Here’s an unfiltered take on this business:
This is a bunch of women who are apparently arguing that drawing what often amounts to manporn is misogynistic. Yet if that’s gonna be offensive to anyone it ought to be me. “Oh look, more objectified men put in gay poses to…
In my humble opinion, it is related to the fact that art and appreciation of female characters is superceeded by male characters. It is not a value judgement on what people do in their spare time or characters they love; I do not care what others like so long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else. It is just that in my time here observing, there is always more fandom awareness of male characters, their relations, their backgrounds, etc, more so than the female.
It seems more like an observation than any controlable behaviour. It’s just a trend. It’s something that seems to happen. I, personally, find it a shame. That’s all.
Then you ought to do something about it. And more power to you. I think you can draw and write and appreciate whomever you wish.
Just don’t tell me what I think when I chose to draw Loghain in his underwear. Don’t tell me I hate women when last I checked I was one. And don’t tell people who like to look at my nekkid Loghain that they are bad people.
Because its bullying in the name of tolerance and if that ain’t hypocrisy, I don’t know what is.
Without coming across as defensive, (and I know that your reblog was likely a broad statement) I don’t believe I’ve ever told people not to do what they like. You create? That is fantastic; there aren’t enough creators in the world, and out of that group not many of them have the spoons to be able to end up making much.
I want to make sure that I’m not misinterpreted here. I honestly support everyone in whatever they do, and drawing men is not mysoginistic. Liking men is not mysoginistic, and prefering seeing men is not mysonginistic. It’s just that: preferential, and entirely personal, and no-one should have any sway over that.
It is more that for me, personally (and this reblog for me was ultimately a personal one), the encouragement of more art based around less popular female characters feels like a good thing. Right?
Please note encouragement; that is not an instruction. No-one can instruct you on how you spend your time and nor should they.
… We apologise for the interruption to our regularly schedualed frivolity! Next up: Do turtles really wear underwear? Stay tuned!

Everything on my dash right now is Varric punching a pickpocket and nothing hurts.
I wish this happened everyday.
In two week’s time, the Fall MCM Expo will be held at the Excel London from 28th-30th October; A handful of friends are planning to cosplay as DA: Origins and 2 characters, so we thought we’d cast the net to see if other Dragon Age Cosplayers would be interested for a meet-up and group photo…
London’s the other end of the globe from me, but BOY THAT SOUNDS FUN.
Oh man, I wish me & Wolfie had prepared for this. We’re building our DA2 cosplays but there’s no way we’ll be ready in two weeks. Promise we can do this next year…? I’ve always wanted to recreate the party selection screen from DA2 with real cosplayers.
Awww, that’s too bad. Well, if you can, at least come to the Expo anyway for the meet up. DA fans are still fans, costumes or no ^_^
Promise made. I will do my best to make sure I’m around this time next year just for that. <3
stripey-dani replied to your post: Attention London-based/bound Dragon Age Cosplayers
All my sads that my Anders will not be ready by then :(
Ooh nuuuuuuuuuuu ;A; The Varric & Anders photos would’ve been fantastic ;A;
WAHHHHH. T_T

So far, we have:
- Lady Varric
- Rogue F!Aeducan
- F!Cousland
So the more DA cosplayers, the merrier! So if you’re headed to the Expo and would like to meet up, please contact our planner Edrissa/Hollysocks through either this Swooping is Bad livejournal post or her twitter account.
(There are also tentative plans to do an outdoor shoot in costume, but anything concrete will be determined as the date nears.)
For those who are not aware, this particular event is quite special as it features THREE Dragon Age-related guests, namely Gideon Emery (Fenris’ VA), Adam Howden (Anders’ VA), and Eve Myles (Merrill’s VA). Not an opportunity to be missed, I think! :)
COME ONE, COME ALL. Join us, baby Bianca just loves new people.
