November 2010
Ladies and gents, here’s your mini history lesson about the recent pictures on my tumblarg!
The large buddha you see is the Great Budda of Kamakura, built in the 1200s; that makes it about 800 years old. It’s cast in bronze, and stands at 13.35 meters tall. He is very impressive to say the least.
Kamakura itself is a great place filled with food and stalls and shrines and temples. There is so much to see there, including but not limited to many small owl related gifts. The owl is a symbol of kamakura (or so I was told by a lovely shop assistant), but I think that the almighty SOFTSERVE should be it. Seriously, green tea and sweet potato icecream. It’s amazing people.
Anyway, hope you are all well and I send much love and food from Japan! Today, I get my hair cut. By a japanese person.
Oh my goodness my language skills aren’t that good.
